Gus Cameron - Principal dentist
Principal dentist Gus Cameron, has 36 years practicing experience and is dedicated to providing the best quality dentistry in a modern, caring and friendly environment with the latest in technology and equipment.
Gus Cameron graduated from the University of the Witwatersrand in South Africa and has managed his own private practice since 1977. He moved to New Zealand with his family in 2002 and decided to settle in Northland and beautiful Whangarei. As the owner of Gentle Dental Company, Gus Cameron has built a team of highly qualified professionals, including Kobus Abrie (Dentist), Alan Payne (Prosthodontist) and Anette Franck (Hygienist).
Gus prides himself on providing quality, affordable dental care for everyone. He ensures that each and every patient will feel welcome and at ease in his relaxing, comfortable and state of the art surgery. Alan Payne - Specialist Prosthodontist
Dentist and specialist prosthodontist Alan Payne has 30 years' experience across private practice, university teaching and senior management. In addition to all aspects of general dentistry, for 20 years he has specifically been making the finest specialist dentures for adults allowing them to smile with confidence and improved self-esteem.
Versatility in treatments is offered with “normal dentist” and “specialist” approaches, involving a variety of skills, procedures and materials to accommodate all patients’ needs.

Kobus Abrie - Dentist
Dentist Kobus Abrie has 30 years experience and believes in reassuring his patients with his unique gentle, caring, compassionate nature. Having graduated from the University of Pretoria, South Africa in 1986, he moved to New Zealand in 1996 and practiced in Tauranga and Te Puke for many years. Kobus joined Gentle Dental Gus Cameron in early 2016. His main interest is in digital dentistry for both diagnosis and treatment, including chairside milled crowns (Cerec). Additional strengths he has are in amalgam replacement, cosmetic dentistry and minor oral surgery. Kobus has a reputation of helping anxious patients to manage their fear of the dentist. Outside dentistry, he has interests in reading, health, fitness, gardening and the bible.
Anette Franck - Hygienist
Anette is an Otago University graduate having worked at this practice since 2006. Being a most meticulous dental hygienist, she has a wealth of practical knowledge for the best ways for you to look after your teeth and gums. She is certified to administer local anaesthetic for the best outcome after non-surgical periodontal (gum) treatment. A high portion of her work load is for altering patients’ confidence and self-esteem with successful tooth whitening procedures.
Here in Whangarei, our hygienist Anette Franck is truly passionate about her job. Her aim is always to work with you to maintain the health of your periodontal tissues (gums) and provide professional oral hygiene coaching. She has a wealth of knowledge on the best ways to look after your teeth and gums, which she is always eager to share.
